INJURY-hit Great Britain went down to hosts Belgium in their second clash in 24 hours, as their preparations for the 2012 European Championships continued.
With line player Chris McDermott, pictured, picking up an injury in Great Britain’s 26-24 victory over Belgium on Friday evening, GB were down to the bare bones in key positions.
Dan McMillan was GB’s only recognised pivot in the squad following McDermott’s withdrawal - and when McMillan was injured himself in the final 15 minutes, winger Seb Prieto had to cover.
Leading 19-12 at half time, Belgium were much improved from the previous day’s clash, and also won the second half by seven goals, eventually running out 36-22 winners.
But with several key players unavailable for this camp, GB expect to be back to their best in time for the Euro 2012 qualifiers from June 10-12 at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London.
Merlin Braithwaite top-scored for GB with five, while Alex Girvan added three.
